My name is Lizzy and I’m 22. I have been to Moldova twice and am heading out again in August 2009. The first time I went out I was a little nervous but that is only natural when your going into the unknown. Those two weeks changed my life forever. The children are fantastic, and they have come a long, long way thanks to Suzanne, and all the support she gets from Des, Liz, Mercy and all the rest of the team over there. The commitment is Brilliant.
Last year was my second time to go. I had planned on not going last year, but at last minute I was lucky and got to book a space to go. I just couldn’t bear not going out for another year and not seeing the children. I am so glad I did. I love them all to bits. To see the courage and strength these children have hits me the most, they are unbelievable, their spirit, the fight they have within them and their attitude. I really like the quotes on the new website because i think they define the children and their home. I think and pray for them everyday and thinking of them gives me the strength and courage to face life with an "i can do it attitude" and "what you put into anything you'll get from it". They really are great.
I can’t wait to head back now in August, seems like forever I have to wait. To anyone who hasn’t been before and is thinking about coming my advice to you is to go. It is like a home from home. It may take u 2 or 3 days to settle and get used to it. But by the time comes to go home you won’t want to leave, you'll be heartbroken leaving. The people you meet are fantastic, we're all different in all ways but we do have one thing in common and that is the goodness all the volunteers have in their hearts that go out there. You make friends for life, and you'll have many stories to tell from the experiences you will get. So I hope you will sign up.
Lots of Love to all, Lizzy xxxxx
