Step 3 - Before you go

The Fundraising Process:

We ask all volunteers to fundraise to cover the cost of their trip to Moldova. The minimum cost of a two week stay in Moldova is currently €1,750 (one thousand, seven hundred and fifty euros). This will cover all costs of your travel and stay while working with ORM and provide a small contribution to the children's services.

Costs that are covered by your sponsorship* include;

  • Flights from Dublin to Chisinau (4 flights in total, 2 there and 2 on the way back, each less than 2 hours)
  • Compulsory Medical Insurance
  • Transfer to and from the airport while in Moldova
  • 2 weeks accommodation in Dormitory style conditions
  • 3 meals a day and housekeeping services
  • All non-alcoholic beverages
  • Translator & Driver services
  • Day out trips with the children and to the other ORM related Programmes in Moldova
  • Medical and Nursing assistance 24 hours/day

*Costs not covered by this sponsorship include your vaccinations or your personal spending money for your day off while in Moldova.

We ask all volunteers to fundraise to cover the costs of their trip to help raise awareness of the plight of these vulnerable children and the wonderful work being carried out by ORM and it's volunteers to change this.

Many people who have never fundraised before worry that they will not be able to raise the minimum sponsorship required to travel. In the vast majority of cases the opposite is true. You will be asking for sponsorship and donations for a specific reason, a placement of an Irish volunteer in an overseas programme. In our experience when people know that you are travelling to work with the charity and that you will be seeing first hand and taking part in the work being carried out as a direct result of their sponsorship and donations, they are much more willing to take part and sponsor you.

In the past our volunteers have not only raised the minimum sponsorship required to travel, but they have far exceeded their fundraising goals. Returning volunteers see all the incredible changes year after year and know that ALL sponsorship is accounted for, is well spent and always helps to provide a new life for the children. This gives them the much needed encouragement and confidence to continue to raise as much money is possible to keep all the programmes ORM currently runs going.

Why not take a look at our comprehensive ORM fundraising and event guide for some useful tips and ideas.

We at ORM comply with the highest fundraising standards and we make a promise to all people donating to use that we will continue to comply with these standards at all times. This also places a great responsibility on the volunteers wishing to fundraise. Once you are cleared for fundraising by the Dublin office we place an inherent trust in you to comply to these standards.

The Dublin Office of ORM is on hand to provide you with the necessary identification, promotional materials, Garda permits and assistance necessary to complete your goal.

Once all fundraising is complete and submitted to the Dublin office, appropriate documentation volunteer guides to travel, travel and insurance documents including itinerary will be provided. All necessary documentation will be provided at least 2 weeks prior to departure and we are always on hand to answer any questions you may have as they arise.
