What personal and financial support will I get from ORM?

Volunteering with ORM is completely voluntary, there are no paid volunteer positions. We ask our volunteers to fundraise to cover the costs of their trip rather than pay for their trip directly. This has the advantage of raising awareness and recognition of ORM programmes and work while involving yourself and friends in enjoyable and imaginative fundraising initiatives.

Volunteers are expected to raise a minimum fee for travel to cover all their costs, which will provide a small contribution towards the programmes in the orphanages. The majority of volunteers, especially returning volunteers, raise well and above the minimum fee required, as they can see first hand where their financial support is going and know the vast need that exists for further financial support.  

ORM will support you through the whole process from beginning to end. We will give you tips and assistance with your fundraising, talk you through the application process, vaccinations and travel preparations. From sponsorship that you collect we arrange all your flights, transfers, insurance, accommodation, food and volunteer related costs.

Once overseas, your local ORM office will meet you on arrival and organise further training and briefing. You will be allocated a team leader and volunteer manager who will be available to you throughout your stay. You have medical back up  and 24 hours a day.

Your local ORM office will help with all major personal, medical or security problems. On your return, our support team will contact you and offer you further support if needed.
