A Good Night's Sleep for the Babies in Chisinau
It all started when a young Irish Man living and working in Germany wanted to do something to help little children in need. Damien Fleming had visited Moldova and taken part in ORM's projects with orphans in the past and knew of the situation on the ground. 
The children in the Baby Orphanage in Chisinau were close to his heart and he asked us what we thought they would need the most, where do you start, the list is endless, a new roof, boiler room piping, outside play equipment, nappies, cots, beds etc. He set his heart on providing Cots for all the babies and new born orphaned and abandoned children.
He gathered together many friends and planted the seed of running a marathon together, having never run a marathon before this was unchartered territory and the grueling training 
began. The idea to help the children took wings in the summer of ‘08 and the long cold winter nights were spent preparing for the run. Little by little others joined in the race and by the end all runners, experienced & those who had never run in their lives; crossed the finish line on the 26th of April in Heidelberg Germany.

They had set themselves a target of €7000 which they surpassed with ease and eventually raised €9350 and the task was complete, the dream that the little ones could spend their sleep time in comfort was now a reality and the 
order could be made.

Damien’s mother, Mercy Fleming, working in Moldova as a volunteer manager, scoured the country for a factory that could make, strong, reliable and comfortable beds for the babies – some as young as 2 days old. The cots themselves came in all shapes and sizes and differing levels of quality. Mercy after much research found what she was looking for and the order was made.
ORM is delighted to announce that all the new cots were 
delivered to the Orphanage on the 30th of June and now all the little babies are sleeping soundly and safely in their new beds. As they had exceeded their targets on their fundraising, we are delighted to also be able to provide the fire safety and prevention equipment for the entire orphanage. We are forever grateful for all your help and we would like to extend a warm thank you to Mr Damien Fleming and all his many friends and followers on their kindness and generosity of spirit for taking on such a challenge for the little children that ORM helps to care for.
