Congratulations to our Top Volunteer Fundraisers in May 2009. Congratulations to our Top Volunteer Fundraisers in May 2009.

This month our teams to beat were made up entirely of the Ladies, sorry lads, maybe June will change all that.

ORM would like to say a huge thank you and give the following people a big thumbs up for all their hard work and efforts to raise money for these wonderful children.

Louise O'Reilly - € 10,969

Louise is an extraordinary Dublin woman that has worked with theLouise O'Reilly children of Hincesti orphanage for 6 years. She not only works full time in childcare in Ireland, but she also sets aside time every year to come and work with these very special needs. Through her network of friends and work colleagues she manages every year to raise funds for specific projects. This years project includes the purchasing and fitting out of the recreational areas of the baby orphanage for all the different age groups.  All equipment is being shipped in from Ireland.

Jackie Lee - €5,000

Jackie, a very special woman from Cork, has been travelling to Moldova for the last 3 years to work with these incredible children. She works full time in Ireland in the intellectual disability sector and yet still finds time for the children and babies with special needs in Moldova. Through Jackie's expertise and training we are able to purchase and sponsor the necessary orthopaedic footwear that the children need. She also sponsored the purchasing of summer shoes for the baby orphanage and 130 pairs of flip flops for the children of Hincesti Orphanage.

Maria Sweetnam - €4,650 Maria Sweetnam

Maria, a newly retired nurse from Cork, is currently on her six year of volunteering in Hincesti Orphanage. She comes not only with expertise from the medical world but awash with practical ideas on all levels. She arranged in 2008 along with Brian Kelly and Paddy Fitzgerald the collecting, sorting, packing and shipping of humanitarian aid and is taking the task on again this year to try and provide for the Hincesti local hospital. A huge debt of gratitude is owed to Maria and her extended family for their input and support of ORM and the wider community of Moldova in General.

Linda Lambe - €4,600

A very special Dublin based lady with expertise in the administration of one of Dublin's leading hospitals. Linda has been fostering children for many years both short and long term and made her first visit out to Moldova in 2008. She returned as a volunteer in 2009 and again left her mark on these wonderful children's lives.  A huge thumbs up to Linda for all her assistance and care.
