The biggest one-day event of The Netherlands is one of the top 5 fastest marathons in the world and is known for its unique ambiance. Hundreds of thousands enthusiastic supporters encourage the runners along the beautiful city course.
The event is transmitted live via NOS, RTV Rijnmond and worldwide via Universal Sports. The press coverage extends to more than a thousand publications in the daily and weekly Dutch press.
Every year the organisers provide a fast, traffic free, safe and running friendly course. Finishing in the centre of Rotterdam is an incredible experience a runner will never forget.
The course in Rotterdam has already proven itself with fast times. After 3 world records (Carlos Lopes in 1985, Belayneh Densamo in 1988 and Tegla Loroupe in 1998) Felix Limo ran the fastest time ever on Dutch soil in 2004. He crossed the finish in a time of 2.06.14 (course record Rotterdam). In 2008 William Kipsang broke the course record in 2.05.49. Duncan Kibet broke this record in 2009 by crossing the finish in 2.04.27, the fastest time worldwide in 2009.
