What is the West of Ireland Women's Mini Marathon 2010?

Mayo Sports Partnership along with The Western People Newspaper are co-organising the 'West of Ireland Women’s Mini Marathon'.

The mini marathon (10km or 6.2 miles) takes place on Sunday May 2nd 2010 at 12 noon in Castlebar. Starting and Finishing at the Mall this run, jog, walk is for women of all abilities / ages and promises to be a huge social and fun occasion.

One of the most innovative and exciting ideas to hit Mayo sport in years this west of ireland womens mini marathon was launched in Castlebar in January. The May Bank Holiday Sunday 2nd has been set aside as the date and this surely will become a firm and much loved fixture on Irelands athletics calendar.

It is anticipated that this mini marathon will attract all ages and abilities. Serious runners, leisurely joggers or occasional walkers. The event is a one size fits all mini-marathon.

PERSONALITIES PARTICIPATING

Many Mayo personalities have already signed up to participate in this event including Beverly Flynn TD, Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin RTE and former Rose of Tralee, director of Special Olympics Europe Mary Davis and well known Mayo Cancer Action Campaigner Mary Mc Greal.
